It seems that a schoolhouse was built in Madras when the area was first being established. However, there just weren't enough children who needed schooling, so the schoolhouse was converted to a tavern. This explains a lot about that town.Jeri Lynnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13157099202470855747noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6917001844554946687.post-63191250794782943682013-07-10T15:28:18.146-07:002013-07-10T15:28:18.146-07:00Got this message from the most excellent host, Ton...Got this message from the most excellent host, Tony Barthel, about the history of the smallest jail...

Tony Barthel This is SO cool - and thank you!

So get this, the guys who built that jail were sort of "wild" themselves and were actually the first guests of the jail. Since they built it, they also knew that they hadn't secured the roof yet so, when nobody was watching, they just let themselves right out. So the first guests were also the first escapees.Chrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02637010194234948441noreply@blogger.com
